Low Oil Level. If you’re hearing a grinding or loud rubbing sound, make sure to check your engine oil levels. While most newer cars include engine oil level monitors, older cars may not have this, or the sensor may not be working. It’s always a good idea to check the engine oil level if you’ve noticed grinding sounds. This one didn't do it until it got a remanufactured replacement engine put into it.
